‘Potassium’ StudionAme 2020
A brand new series of large scale vibrant abstract paintings by Tim Fowler.
The works were produced as part of an Arts Council funded programme of lockdown events at Studioname in Leicester, UK.
During lockdown Tim discovered a new love of plants. Tending his garden and immersing himself in all things botanical.
Tim has created this series of striking works using a banana plant as his starting point. Having one in his studio space Tim was enchanted by it’s large elegant textural leaves as well as it’s tender growing temperament.
The pieces which are 3 x 2.4m are imposing in scale yet delicate in execution. Although vivid, Tim’s work is invariably balanced, using a signature colour palette of extremely bright and intense hues makes his work distinctly recognisable. His organic relationship with paint and colour constantly evolves and shines through, as he experiments with opacity, texture combinations, finishes and light. The scale enabled Tim to experiment with new techniques including the use of a paint filled fire extinguisher. A variety of nozzles powered by compressed air. Self constructed elongated brushes, mops, brooms and squeegees.
